USING GOOGLE'S NEW FEATURE:GOOGLE LENS

Google has just launched its futuristic Google lens recently and it comes as one of the features in its photos application"Google photos".Previously this feature was available only on pixel devices and it has been recently rolled into other android devices.The only thing you need to do is to have an updated version of google photos application which can be found on Google play store if not available on your phone by default.

So, What is Google Lens?

It is an application developed by Google which helps us to get relevant information about a subject on an image using visual analysis.Be it a historical monument, flower or animal.

Using the Google lens feature.

I spent some time with the google lens feature on the google photos application which as of now is in a preview mode.Since the feature is in initial stages so it is not very accurate and it shows us some generalized category of an image if the image is of some flower or animal.

The banners with text and phone numbers, addresses and dates are clearly identified by the google lens feature.
I tried to use the lens features to some of my photos and it worked very well.The phone numbers in the banners or posters were clearly picked up by the lens and the text in the banners was also flawlessly picked up by the lens even when it is not in a reading position or in my case the text in the banner was written vertically.



The feature has options like the call, add contact and to copy and share the phone number which is on the banner or poster.
I tried the lens feature in the above photos and it identified the subjects in the photos most of the times.It gives a generalized result which is nearly close to the subject in the image and in some cases it is exactly the same result.
 

















The Lens feature in the google photos can also identify the historical structures and monuments and when I tried this feature myself and it gave me the correct result like the picture of Charminar in Hyderabad or the picture of Golden Temple in Amritsar, Punjab.


The feature can also be used to look up for books, music albums, movies etc.As of now, the feature is in the preview mode and it will improve in the coming years.
