WHAT IS A USB TYPE-C CABLE AND HOW IT IS TRULY A UNIVERSAL CABLE .

USB type-c cable
On a fine day in my office, a colleague of mine went on asking for a USB type-c cable to charge his smartphone and he was having a hard time finding that particular cable. No one had that type-c cable as it is found in only a few smartphones as of now.But slowly the USB type-c ports are becoming a trend in every smartphone nowadays.

What is this USB type-c cable?

The USB type-c cable is a new type of USB connector which is slowly becoming a standard nowadays for every smartphone in the market. It is a reversible cable which can be inserted into the USB type-c port of a device in either way(flipping sideways). The cable is capable of transferring power up to 100watts and it has a transfer speed of 10gbps.

The USB-C is here to stay.

Imagine a day when you will need only one cable to do all your stuff like charging your smartphone, transferring your data through that one cable and also listening to your favorite music through that cable. And you would be able to borrow a type-c cable from anyone near you to charge your smartphone. Also, it can charge a laptop.

The USB-C is a lot thinner than a standard USB cable and it will help in reducing the thickness of a smartphone. Also in the coming days, it may happen that a smartphone will have no 3.5mm jack and the audio output will be through that USB-C port available on the smartphone.

Slowly but steadily companies are opting for USB-C port on their smartphones and companies like Apple, Samsung etc are slowly adding the port to their flagship models.Samsung with its new Galaxy series smartphones and apple with its new MacBook Pro and one plus series of smartphones are adopting the new USB-C port. The new Chromebook pixel also has a USB-C port as their charging port and Apple has also given USB-C  port as their charging port in its new MacBook Pro.

So, the USB-C cable is truly a  universal cable, given the fact that it can be used for a various purpose in future smart devices. The transition from standard USB to USB-C will take some time before it can be found on every device.
